Beast Hide Locations Detailed for 'NieR: Automata'
NieR: Automata boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, allowing players to experiment across multiple playthroughs. Each weapon offers multiple upgrade tiers, extending their usefulness and enabling completion of the game with a single favorite weapon, if desired.
Weapon upgrades are readily available at the Resistance Camp, though they require specific resources. One crucial, yet uncommon, material is Beast Hides. This guide details efficient farming strategies.
Obtaining Beast Hides in NieR: Automata
Beast Hides are obtained by defeating wildlife, such as moose and boar. These creatures randomly appear in designated map areas, generally avoiding players and robots. Their white icons on the mini-map distinguish them from the black icons of machines. Farming wildlife is less straightforward than farming machines due to their lower spawn rate and unpredictable locations.
Moose and boar are exclusively found in the game's ruined city and forest zones. Their behavior (flight or attack) depends on the player's level relative to theirs. Higher-level animals may become aggressive even at a distance. Wildlife possesses significant health, making early-game encounters challenging, especially against similarly or higher-leveled creatures.
Animal Bait can lure wildlife, simplifying their defeat.
Unlike consistently respawning enemies, wildlife requires strategic hunting during exploration. Respawn mechanics mirror those of machines:
- Fast traveling resets all enemies and wildlife.
- Sufficient distance traveled triggers respawns in previously visited areas.
- Story progression can also initiate respawns.
Efficient Beast Hide farming lacks a dedicated method. Eliminating all encountered wildlife while traversing forests and city ruins usually provides sufficient hides. Their relatively high drop rate ensures that stockpiling excessive hides isn't necessary, unless upgrading more weapons than currently equipped.
