If you’re diving into the world of Path of Exile 2, you’ll quickly discover that boosting your power comes in various forms. How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2
Anointing isn’t available right away—it’s unlocked later in the game. To begin, you’ll need Distilled Emotions, which are obtained from Delirium Maps. Think of them as the equivalent of Blight Oils from the first game. There are ten distinct types of Distilled Emotions: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.
The most common way to acquire Distilled Emotions is by completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random selection. Alternatively, you can obtain them via currency exchange or the trade market. If you’re looking to upgrade your Distilled Emotions, head to the Reforging Bench. Using three of the same type grants you an upgraded version of that emotion, giving you more control over the outcomes.
For those seeking a challenge, Simulacrum waves occasionally drop Distilled Emotions, though it’s less efficient than farming maps and requires a stronger build.

How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2
Anointing works for both Waystones and amulets, though the process differs slightly depending on the item. Keep in mind that the game is still in Early Access, so additional anointing options may be added in the future.
For Amulets:
- Select a Distilled Emotion to open the Instilling window. It doesn’t matter which emotion you choose initially.
- Place your amulet in the central box.
- Add a Distilled Emotion to each of the three bottom boxes.
- The required emotions for the anointing ability you desire can be found in the Passive Skill Tree. Hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press Alt (keyboard) or R3 (controller).

The skills you choose to anoint depend on your build, and this effect isn’t permanent. You can swap out anointed skills by repeating the process. The new skill will overwrite the old one, allowing you to adapt to your evolving build.
For Waystones:
The same process applies to Waystones, but anointing them makes encounters more challenging. However, it also increases the quality of loot you receive. Note that you cannot anoint corrupted items, whether amulets or Waystones.
With these tips, you’re well-equipped to enhance your gear through anointing, either to bolster your current build or to push your limits by testing your skills with anointed Waystones in Path of Exile 2.
Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
