The cards we're revealing today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, included in the larger main set. These are reprints of existing Magic cards, reimagined with iconic art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those in the previously revealed Commander decks, they celebrate the legacy of Final Fantasy with art that spans from the very first game in the series.

Unlike the cards in the main set, the Through the Ages cards are not legal in Magic's Standard format, though they retain their legality if the original card was already legal. Essentially, these are alternate art versions of existing cards. You can find them in both Collector Boosters and one in every three Play Boosters, which are used for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you're planning to dive deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, expect to encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige stands out as an Uncommon. This card is a reskin of Lightning Bolt, one of Magic's most iconic cards, and its presence could significantly influence the set's dynamics.
The Warrior of Light reprint of Jodah, the Unifier, is sure to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the art here is Amano's from the original Final Fantasy's Japanese boxart. Similarly, Amano's iconic art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has been reprinted only once before this.
These cards will be available physically as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions launching on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan not yet into Magic, there's reason to be excited. Tetsuya Nomura, director of the FF7 Remake series, hinted that the design of Sephiroth on one card holds a mysterious significance.
