Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!
Love Sudoku and want to challenge friends? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you compete against other players or teams. The goal is classic Sudoku: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.
Before starting, choose a difficulty level (1-6, 1 being easiest, 6 hardest). This sets the initial numbers, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone begins with the same puzzle.
Game Modes:
Two modes are available, selectable in the game options:
- Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correct number placed is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points for that number.
- Hide Opponent's Correct Numbers: Correct numbers are not shown to other players, allowing multiple players to earn points for the same number.
Time-Outs:
Incorrect numbers result in a time-out, preventing further actions for a configurable period (default 30 seconds).
Scoring:
Correct numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct number. Incorrect numbers deduct half the points you'd gain for a correct placement.
Winning:
The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. If "Show Opponent's Correct Numbers" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves it, though this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win by having fewer mistakes.
Team vs. Individual Play:
A team mode lets two teams compete. Join a team (1 or 2), and when at least two players join a team, they become part of that team. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/colors are shared amongst teammates, enabling collaborative strategies.
Solving Tools:
A toolbar under the puzzle provides tools:
- Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to squares. Selecting a number already present in a square removes it.
- Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares.
