Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to Support Cloud Saves
Nintendo has recently confirmed that the The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch 2 will indeed support cloud saves, alleviating concerns among fans. Initially, a disclaimer on Nintendo's website for the Switch 2 version of the game stated that it did not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature. This led to worries, as reported by IGN, that some games, or at least this one, might not include this functionality.
However, Nintendo has since updated its website, clarifying the situation. While the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed all references to cloud saves, the disclaimer for Tears of the Kingdom has been revised. It now reads: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This suggests that players will be able to transfer their old Switch 1 saves to the new Switch 2 devices, but transferring saves from the Switch 2 back to the original Switch will not be possible, as noted by Eurogamer.
The The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition page now features a similar message, indicating that the same save transfer policy applies.
With the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders now available and priced at $449.99, demand has been high, as expected. For more information on securing your own, check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
