World of Warcraft has unveiled an exciting new feature: campsites, which are collectible backgrounds that allow players to personalize their character select screens. With the upcoming World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, fans can eagerly anticipate collecting four new campsites, with additional options planned for future updates.
Blizzard recently announced enhancements to the Warband's character select screen, enabling players to set up multiple camps for their characters. These camps can be customized with unique names and unlockable backgrounds, adding a personal touch to the gaming experience.
Now that Patch 11.1 is available on the World of Warcraft Public Test Realm, players have a chance to explore this new system, including the first set of backgrounds and their acquisition methods. In addition to the original Warbands character selection screen named Adventurer’s Rest, four new campsites are up for grabs in Patch 11.1: Ohn’ahran Overlook, Cultists’ Quay, Freywold Spring, and Gallagio Grand Gallery. The popular WoW content creator, MrGM, has already shared a detailed video showcasing these campsites and their unlock methods.
New Campsites in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
Campsite | Description | Unlock |
---|---|---|
Ohn'ahran Overlook | Centaur camp in the Ohn'ahran Plains | Logging in after Patch 11.1 |
Freywold Spring | Hot spring in Freywold Village, Isle of Dorn | "All That Khaz" completion meta-achievement from The War Within |
Cultists' Quay | Nightfall Sanctum Delve in Hallowfall | Season 2 Delver's Journey |

The Ohn’ahran Overlook, set in the Ohn'ahran Plains from Dragonflight, is automatically unlocked by logging in after Patch 11.1. The Cultists’ Quay, found in the Nightfall Sanctum Delve in Hallowfall, is earned through the Delver’s Journey in Season 2. Freywold Spring, located in the village of the same name, and the Gallagio Grand Gallery, featured in the new raid, Liberation of Undermine, are obtained by completing the "All That Khaz" and "Racing to a Revolution" meta-achievements, respectively.
These campsites and their unlock methods can be easily accessed in a new tab within the Collections pane, allowing players to preview and unlock them. On the character select screen, a new tab at the top enables fans to select their preferred campsites or choose randomly between their favorite backgrounds each time they log in.
These customizable character selection screens are an extension of the Warbands system introduced in World of Warcraft: The War Within, demonstrating Blizzard's commitment to enhancing this feature. Players can look forward to unlocking campsites alongside mounts, pets, and other collectibles in future updates, which may include new content, old areas, holiday events, the Trading Post, and even the cash shop.
