Ex-Witcher 3 Director Unveils New The Blood of Dawnwalker Footage
Rebel Wolves — the studio founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, former game director of The Witcher 3 and co-director of Cyberpunk 2077 — has announced its dark fantasy action-RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker will launch in 2026.
During yesterday's Xbox Games Showcase, Rebel Wolves unveiled pre-beta gameplay footage featuring Coen, "a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker — human by day, vampire by night" — as he adapts to his newfound abilities.
But there’s more. On June 21, Rebel Wolves will host a special event during the year’s longest day, when "the boundary between day and night fades, leading to unforeseen consequences." The 45-minute showcase will feature roughly 15 minutes of new gameplay footage alongside in-depth developer insights.
Viewers will get an inside look at core gameplay mechanics, including the directional combat system that combines swordplay, magic, and vampiric abilities. The presentation will also explore how players traverse Vale Sangora’s landscapes and how the stark contrast between daylight and darkness affects exploration, narrative choices, and gameplay progression.
"We’re thrilled to finally share more about our game, and I want to express our gratitude to our community for their incredible support," said Tomaszkiewicz. "When we first announced the game in January, we promised a deeper gameplay reveal this summer — and now that time has come."
"Join us on June 21 for our Gameplay Reveal Event, where we’ll showcase Coen’s evolving powers as a Dawnwalker — a being caught between the realms of light and shadow."
In The Blood of Dawnwalker, players assume the role of Coen, a young man torn between humanity and vampirism. With only 30 days and nights to either rescue his family or seek vengeance against his creator, every choice comes at a price. The ultimate question lingers: How much of your humanity are you willing to sacrifice for those you love?
