Unlocking Caldarus Romance in Fields of Mistria: Guide to Events and Best Gifts
In the enchanting world of *Fields of Mistria*, Caldarus, the mystical dragon, becomes a romanceable character with the Early Access title's March 2025 update. Here's your comprehensive guide on unlocking his romance questline, along with event details and his gift preferences.
How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To embark on a romantic journey with Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Upon completing this offering, a cutscene will trigger where the Mines Priestess warns you to leave or risk being sealed alongside the scroll. As your health diminishes, Caldarus heroically appears, transforming into his human form, bestowing upon you the Dragon's Breath spell, and then retreating to the Deep Woods. In this new form, you can engage with Caldarus through daily conversations and gift-giving, just like with other romanceable NPCs in Mistria.
After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus can be found at his temple in the Deep Woods. To access this area permanently on your map, you'll need to use the Dragon's Breath spell.
Caldarus' Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, Caldarus starts at six hearts when unlocked as a romanceable character, which is the current heart level cap. Unfortunately, there are no additional heart events available for him yet in *Fields of Mistria*. However, future updates are expected to add more. Currently, you can experience a few cutscenes involving Caldarus. The first is a dream sequence at the game's start, introducing you to Mistria's magic system and mechanics. The second occurs after breaking the Fire Seal, where Caldarus saves you from being sealed, revealing his human form before retreating to recover in the Deep Woods. Both scenes unfold naturally with the game's progression.
Following the update, you can also trigger a real date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival on Summer 28.
The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in *Fields of Mistria*, offering a chance to take any romanceable NPC with four hearts or higher on a date to the Summit to watch the stars. Since Caldarus starts at six hearts, you're automatically eligible to go with him. To secure a date with Caldarus, gift him a Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28, and meet up afterward to confirm your attendance. This will initiate a cutscene of your date. *Spoilers ahead!*
During your date at the Summit, Caldarus expresses gratitude for the invitation and shares insights on the stars and the Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. The conversation delves into existential topics, such as the nature of soul connections and the necessity of villains in stories. Caldarus muses about the possibility of having attended the festival with you in a past life before feeling a wave of fatigue. He then invites you to spend the rest of the evening watching the stars from his temple.
