First, complete Kanya's side quests:

• Seeking the Goldenfish: Catch a Goldenfish (Scarlet Forest, Area 6; use Golden Bughead or Common Wood Minnow bait; Fallow weather increases chances).
• Fishing for Favor: Catch a Gravid Bowfin (Scarlet Forest base camp; Plenty weather; use Emerald Jitterbait).
• The Catch of a Lifetime!: Catch any large fish requiring the reeling minigame (Tuna in Scarlet Forest, Area 17, is a good option).
