Tony Hawk: 25 Years of Skating, Something's in the Pipe
Tony Hawk Hints at a 25th Anniversary Celebration for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
The legendary Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise is turning 25, and Tony Hawk himself has confirmed that Activision is planning something special to commemorate the occasion.
A Surprise in Store for Fans
In a recent appearance on Mythical Kitchen, Hawk revealed that discussions with Activision are underway, teasing an upcoming project: "We're working on something—This is the first time I've said that publicly," he stated. While details remain scarce, Hawk assures fans that the plans will be "something the fans will truly appreciate."
Past Projects and Future Possibilities
The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater launched on September 29, 1999, and spawned numerous sequels. The 2020 release of the remastered Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 was a success, leading to plans for remasters of Pro Skater 3 + 4. However, the closure of Vicarious Visions halted that project. Now, speculation is rife about a potential new game announcement coinciding with the anniversary. Rumors suggest a reveal during a Sony State of Play event this month. Whether this will be a new game or a continuation of the remastered project remains unconfirmed.
Anniversary Celebrations Underway
The official Tony Hawk's Pro Skater social media accounts are already celebrating the 25th anniversary, sharing new artwork and hosting a giveaway for the THPS 1 + 2 Collector's Edition.
The anticipation is building for the official announcement. Stay tuned for updates on what Activision and Tony Hawk have in store for fans.
