"Switch 2's New C Button Unveiled Before Direct"
The excitement for the Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable as its release in 2025 draws near. Fans are eagerly anticipating what innovations the new console will bring, and some have already caught a glimpse of what might be the final design. Dive in to discover more about this highly anticipated handheld.
Nintendo Switch 2 Features The New C Button
The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch in 2025, and with a Nintendo Direct scheduled for today, April 2nd, the anticipation is sky-high. Yet, Nintendo might have already given us a sneak peek at some of the Switch 2's features before the Direct, including a mysterious new component.
Nintendo recently launched its smartphone app, "Nintendo Today," designed to deliver the latest news and game information directly to players. Observant fans noticed that the app's promotional images on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store included a reference to the Nintendo Switch 2, promising "updates on Nintendo Switch 2 news plus game info, videos, comics, and more every day."
Upon closer examination, one image from the Nintendo Today app seems to showcase what could be the final design of the entire Nintendo Switch 2 console. This includes the newly designed Joy-Cons and the confirmation of a previously mysterious button on the right Joy-Con, now identified as the C button.
In the initial teaser for the Switch 2 released in January, this new button, located beneath the Home button, was just a black square without any labeling, sparking speculation about its function—whether it would introduce a new social feature or serve as a new sensor. Thanks to the final design showcased in the Nintendo Today app, it's now confirmed to be a C button. While its specific functionality remains under wraps, we can expect more details during today's Nintendo Direct.
