Embark on the "For Science!" Side Quest in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Stalker 2's open world, The Zone, is teeming with NPCs, many of whom offer quests ranging from small tasks to substantial side missions. One such mission, "For Science!", begins with an encounter between Skif and Yaryk Mongoose. Mongoose needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. This relatively brief quest rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facility.

Initiating the "For Science!" Quest

To begin, locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, you'll hear Mongoose radio Skif, requesting a meeting. Inside the Central Elevator, navigate past conveyor belts, ascend the rusted stairs, and vault the railing to reach Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device and initiate the quest upon your acceptance.

Reaching the Silo's Peak

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows provides access to an external walkway and ladder leading to the silos. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the measuring device.

Dealing with the Bloodsuckers

Activating the device alerts a pack of Bloodsuckers. Choose to fight or evade them to return to Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Upon your return, Mongoose will explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose or accept the reward peacefully. Either choice has no significant impact on the game's progression. The Malachite Pass, your reward, unlocks the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via main missions. Choosing the peaceful option also yields additional coupons.
