GSC Gameworld, the developers behind S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, have shared their latest roadmap, committing to quarterly updates to keep the game fresh and responsive to player feedback. On April 14, STALKER's official X (formerly Twitter) account detailed the roadmap for Q2 2025, ensuring players stay in the loop with regular patch notes to confirm the implementation of these planned updates.

  • A-Life/AI Updates
  • Mutant Loot
  • Shader Compilation Skip
  • Player Stash Window Increase

GSC Gameworld is focusing on two major areas: the Beta Mod SDK Kit and further enhancements to the A-Life system. They plan to launch a closed beta with mod makers to test the ModKit before its public release, and they aim to integrate Mod.io and Steam Workshop for seamless modding experiences.

The A-Life System will see continued improvements aimed at enhancing NPC AI and simulation. Following a massive 110 GB Christmas patch last year, the developers are set to introduce "persistent A-Life improvements" and "smarter human combat; better cover/flanking use, limited grenades."

In addition to the A-Life system, mutants in the game will now exhibit more realistic behaviors, such as eating corpses and reacting to threats. Other upcoming features include the introduction of mutant loot, the ability to skip shader compilation, an expanded player stash window, support for wide screen aspect ratios, two new unspecified weapons, and ongoing efforts to stabilize and optimize the game.

As an exciting side note, GSC Gameworld is also planning a next-gen update for the original STALKER trilogy. More details on these updates will be shared as their release dates approach.
