Sony Removes PS3 Games Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 from PS5 and PS4 in Major PS Plus Overhaul
Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see 22 games removed from the service's library, including high-profile titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members enjoy access to a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games.
As highlighted by Push Square, the impending removal of 22 games on May 20 marks a significant change, especially with the departure of two notable first-party Sony PS3 games from the PS Plus Premium library.

The removal of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 is particularly noteworthy because these games are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store. This makes the PS Plus Premium streaming service the final frontier for playing them, unless you own physical copies and a functioning PS3. These titles are being delisted less than a year after their addition to the library at the end of 2024.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac, comprises alternate history first-person shooters that followed their acclaimed Ratchet and Clank games. The franchise saw three releases on the PS3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects, including Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
While it's unusual for Sony to remove first-party games from PlayStation Plus, it's not unprecedented, as seen with the unexpected removal of both Horizon games — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West — in August 2024. Unlike those games, which remained available for purchase, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will become completely inaccessible on modern consoles after their removal.
Interestingly, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the more recent first-party PS4 title, InFamous: Second Son, is also set to leave PS Plus.
Insomniac's Resistance series has been dormant for some time. In February, Insomniac founder and outgoing president Ted Price disclosed a significant effort to develop Resistance 4, but the project ultimately did not move forward. Like Horizon developer Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance has been sidelined.
