10-Minute Pre-Order Trailer Highlights New Characters and Gameplay

Kojima Productions, in collaboration with Sony, unveiled the much-anticipated release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2) during the South by Southwest (SXSW) event on March 9, 2025, in Austin, Texas. The panel, led by DS2 Director Hideo Kojima, kicked off with a captivating 10-minute trailer. This trailer not only showcased new snippets of the story but also provided a glimpse into the gameplay, reinforcing the game's focus on human connectivity within a post-apocalyptic setting.

Kojima was joined by PlayStation’s Global Content Communications Manager Kristen Zitan, as well as DS2 actors Norman Reedus, reprising his role as Sam Porter Bridges, Troy Baker, and the French Music Director and Designer Woodkid. The trailer introduced a new character, Neil, portrayed by Luca Marinelli, who leads a mysterious faction. Fans were quick to note Neil's resemblance to Metal Gear’s Solid Snake, particularly due to his similar headband.

This observation was further validated by Kojima himself, who, in a July 2020 Instagram post, remarked on how Marinelli, when wearing a bandana, strikingly resembles Solid Snake. The new faction led by Neil is set to play a significant role in the narrative of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is scheduled for release on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. To keep up with the latest updates on the game, be sure to check out our comprehensive article on Death Stranding 2: On The Beach below!
