EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting surprise for fans. Today, both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 are once again available on PC through two Legacy Collections and The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle.

EA has announced the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection, available today on PC. These collections can be purchased separately or together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle for $40.

Both games come with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but otherwise, everything is included. Additionally, both collections offer bonus content: The Sims 1 includes the Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 comes with the Grunge Revival Kit alongside all other add-ons.

EA's re-release of these classic The Sims games marks the first time in over a decade that both titles have been readily available to play. The Sims 1 was originally only released on disc, making it nearly impossible to play on modern Windows machines without finding an old physical copy. The Sims 2 was more recently available in 2014 through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store, but that was discontinued. Now, with these new collections, all four The Sims games are easily accessible and playable through digital storefronts.

In our original reviews, we gave The Sims 1 a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 an 8.5/10. While the series has evolved with numerous new features and improvements, the original games remain worth exploring for their charm, simplicity, challenge, and historical significance.

The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app.
