Recent leaks suggest the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 may require a significant power upgrade, potentially rendering the original Switch's charging cable incompatible. While the console's design appears largely similar to its predecessor, based on leaked images, the charging solution is reportedly a key difference.

The Switch 2 is anticipated to launch by March 2025, yet Nintendo remains officially silent. However, online speculation is rife, fueled by leaked images. Holiday season leaks showcased a console design closely resembling the original Switch, with subtle enhancements. Further leaks depicted magnetic Joy-Con controllers, seemingly confirming their attachment mechanism in tablet mode.

A recent leak from journalist Laura Kate Dale, citing a BlueSky source, features an image of the Switch 2's charging dock. This leak also claims the console will ship with a 60W charging cable, implying incompatibility with the original Switch's lower-wattage power cord. While the older cable might charge the device, it's likely to be inefficient. Using a 60W cable is strongly recommended for optimal performance.

Charging Cable Compatibility Concerns

Numerous other rumors surrounding the Switch 2 have emerged. Earlier leaks detailed developer kits, hinting at potential titles such as a new Mario Kart installment and Monolith Soft's Project X Zone.
