The trailer highlights Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm roguelike action, merging the excitement of rhythm games with side-scrolling action. A standout feature is the online co-op mode, which supports up to 4 players, allowing for cooperative play in battles with up to 100 characters.

Ratatan is crafted by Hiroyuki Kotani, the original creator of Patapon, and features music by Kemmei Adachi, who contributed to the Patapon soundtrack. The game's Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, has successfully met its console launch stretch goal, ensuring its availability on consoles.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

According to a recent update on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan's closed beta is set to commence on February 27, 2025. Kazuto Sakajiri, the producer of Ratatan, shared insights on the game's progress and upcoming milestones.

Sakajiri announced that Ratatan has surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and garnered positive feedback on their Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. However, the game will not participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the team is focusing on the closed beta. They aim to present an improved demo at the Steam Next festival in June.

The closed beta will initially feature gameplay up to Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 to be added during the test period, which is expected to last approximately a month. Sakajiri noted, "The distribution of codes, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X as soon as they are confirmed."

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, anticipation continues to build for this eagerly awaited title.
