Project ETHOS: A Fresh Take on the Hero Shooter

2K Games and 31st Union are thrilled to introduce Project ETHOS, a free-to-play roguelike hero shooter aiming to redefine the genre. Experience a thrilling blend of strategic roguelike progression and exciting hero-based combat, all within a dynamic third-person perspective.

What sets Project ETHOS apart? It seamlessly integrates the unpredictable thrill of roguelike gameplay with the unique abilities of distinct heroes. Each match features randomized "Evolutions," dramatically altering your chosen hero's capabilities and demanding constant adaptation. Transform your sniper into a close-quarters combat specialist, or turn your support character into a solo powerhouse – the possibilities are endless!

Project ETHOS offers two distinct game modes:

Trials: This signature mode challenges teams of three to collect Cores, strategically choosing when to extract and invest them in unlocking new progressions and abilities. The roguelike element is in full effect; death means losing your hard-earned Cores, the currency for powerful Augments that enhance future runs. Maximize your Core earnings by surviving and collecting as many as possible before cashing out. Matches can be joined at any time, even mid-battle, introducing a dynamic element where you might face off against well-established opponents. Check the remaining match time before jumping in!

Gauntlet: A more traditional competitive PvP mode, Gauntlet features bracket-style tournaments. Upgrade your hero with each victory, aiming for ultimate supremacy in a thrilling last-team-standing showdown. Elimination means waiting for the next round.

Join the Project ETHOS Community Playtest!

Project ETHOS is a live-service game, constantly evolving with community feedback. The community playtest, running from October 17th to 21st, is your chance to shape the future of the game! Earn access by watching participating Twitch streams for 30 minutes to receive a playtest key. You can also register on the official website for a chance to participate in future playtests.

Currently, the playtest is limited to players in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, and Italy. Global release plans are yet to be announced. Please note that server maintenance will occur during these times:

North America:

• October 17th: 10 AM – 11 PM PT
• October 18th-20th: 11 AM – 11 PM PT

Europe:

• October 17th: 6 PM - 1 AM GMT+1
• October 18th-21st: 1 PM - 1 AM GMT+1

31st Union's First Major Title

Project ETHOS marks the debut major title for 31st Union, led by Michael Condrey, co-founder of Sledgehammer Games and veteran Call of Duty developer. Condrey's extensive experience in multiplayer shooters is clearly evident in Project ETHOS's design.

While 2K and 31st Union haven't announced a release date, the innovative gameplay and unique marketing approach through Twitch and Discord are sure to generate considerable excitement.
