PlayStation State of Play Coming Soon

Sony's February PlayStation State of Play is reportedly scheduled for next week, according to leaker NateTheHate, who correctly predicted the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date. Speculation is rife about what Sony will unveil.

Several first-party titles slated for 2025 release could feature prominently. A gameplay reveal and release date for Sucker Punch's Ghost of Yotei is a strong possibility. Bungie's Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter, might also make an appearance if playtesting plans remain on track. Haven Studios' debut title, Fairgames, is another contender. While less likely, new footage for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is anticipated. Naughty Dog's new IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine are also possibilities, though perhaps less probable for this State of Play.

Notably absent will be the recently cancelled live-service games from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games (the latter reportedly a God of War title). However, Guerrilla Games' live-service Horizon project reportedly survived the cuts and a reveal might finally be imminent.

Regarding third-party titles, Physint (Kojima's stealth-action game) might be too early for a major reveal, while Phantom Blade Zero (a hack-and-slash RPG from S-Game) is a more likely candidate.

Given Microsoft's growing presence on PlayStation, a release date for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny could be announced. The possibility of a Halo announcement for PlayStation is also being discussed.

Last year's State of Play featured Death Stranding 2, Physint, Rise of the Ronin, Until Dawn remaster, Stellar Blade, Dragon's Dogma 2, Sonic x Shadow Generations, various Silent Hill projects, Judas, Foamstars, and Helldivers 2. This provides a useful benchmark for predicting this year's announcements.
