How Many Yakuza/Like a Dragon Games Are There?

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have released nine mainline Yakuza/Like a Dragon games, two remakes (Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2), with a third planned, and 11 spin-offs since 2005. Initially PlayStation exclusives, they've expanded to Xbox and PC, with new games (except for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth) launching simultaneously across platforms. Notably, Yakuza Kiwami received a Nintendo Switch port in October 2024, as announced at the August 2024 Nintendo Direct.

1. Yakuza 0 (2014)

Chronologically first, *Yakuza 0* features Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima in the late 1980s. Kiryu is framed for murder, while Majima is tasked with killing a woman who owns crucial land. The game culminates in Kiryu's return to the Dojima family, Majima's decision to let the woman live, and the destruction of the Empty Lot, paving the way for the Millennium Tower.

2. Yakuza (2005) / Yakuza Kiwami (2016)

*Yakuza* follows Kiryu's release from prison after taking the blame for a murder. He uncovers a missing ¥10 billion and confronts his former friend, Nishikiyama. The game ends with Kiryu becoming the Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan, only to step down and raise Haruka.

3. Yakuza 2 (2006) / Yakuza Kiwami 2 (2017)

*Yakuza 2* sees Kiryu preventing a war between the Tojo Clan and the Omi Alliance. He encounters Ryuji Goda and works alongside detective Kaoru Sayama.

4. Yakuza 3 (2009)

In *Yakuza 3*, Kiryu runs an orphanage in Okinawa, but soon faces threats involving various yakuza families, assassinations, and even the CIA.

5. Yakuza 4 (2010)
