Phasmophobia: Mastering the Haunted Mirror

Author : Ellie Mar 12,2025

In the thrilling world of *Phasmophobia*, hunting down the most elusive ghosts often requires employing special Cursed Possessions—powerful tools that come with a dose of risk. The Haunted Mirror is a particularly useful Cursed Possession, offering significant rewards that often outweigh the potential dangers. This guide will explain how to effectively utilize this valuable item.

Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror stands out as one of the safer Cursed Objects in *Phasmophobia*. Its consistent ability, unchanged across multiple game updates, makes it a highly recommended tool if you encounter it during an investigation. Its primary function is to reveal the ghost's current favorite room or area, providing a panoramic view within the mirror's reflection. This significantly speeds up your investigation, allowing you to strategically position your equipment before things get too hairy.

You'll typically find the Haunted Mirror hanging on a wall (like in 6 Tanglewood Drive) or lying on the floor in its predetermined location. Remember, Cursed Objects always spawn in the same spot on each map; the randomness lies in *which* Cursed Object appears.

To use the mirror, simply pick it up and interact with it using the appropriate button (mouse or controller). The reflection will show you the ghost's favored room. However, keep in mind that on Professional difficulty and above, the ghost might relocate after a while.

Caution is advised! Staring into the Haunted Mirror for extended periods drains your sanity. Holding it for the entire duration will shatter the mirror, triggering a terrifying Cursed Hunt at your current location. Use it wisely when your sanity is high and be sure you understand what you're seeing in the reflection.

What are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions, often called "Cursed Objects," are unique items that randomly appear on any map (though the chances might vary based on difficulty or Challenge Mode). Unlike standard equipment, which helps locate and identify ghosts with minimal risk, Cursed Objects act as powerful tools to manipulate the ghost, but at a significantly higher risk to your character's sanity and survival.

The risk-reward balance varies among Cursed Objects. It's entirely up to you and your team to decide whether the potential benefits outweigh the increased danger. There's no penalty for choosing not to use them. Note that only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

There are seven Cursed Objects in total:

  • Summoning Circle
  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
