PC Games That Play Better With A Controller

PC gaming is largely synonymous with keyboard and mouse control, especially for genres like first-person shooters and strategy games that benefit from precise aiming and control. However, some PC games are arguably better experienced with a gamepad. Games emphasizing reflex-based movement or fast-paced melee combat often lend themselves well to controller input. This is particularly true for titles originating on consoles before making their way to PC.

While many PC releases offer keyboard and mouse support, several titles stand out as superior with controllers. Recent releases like Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1&2 Remastered are examples, though the improvement isn't drastic.

Several upcoming 2025 releases show promise for enhanced gamepad play:

• Freedom Wars Remastered: A PS Vita port reminiscent of Monster Hunter, likely optimized for controller use.
• Tales of Graces f Remastered: The Tales series consistently performs better with gamepads, and this remaster is expected to follow suit.
• Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Given the similar combat system to its predecessor, a controller is likely preferred on PC.
• Marvel's Spider-Man 2: A typical controller-first experience for a PS5 port. Keyboard and mouse might still be viable, however.
