Path of Exile 2's endgame is notoriously challenging. To help players prepare, the developers have cleverly hidden several encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and even weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff—but it's surprisingly easy to miss. Let's explore how to find and activate it.

Where To Find Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is located in the Spires of Deshar map, appearing in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with it grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Its icon on the world map is small and easily overlooked, leading many players to miss it entirely.

Because each map in PoE 2 is procedurally generated, there's no single guaranteed location for the Sisters of Garukhan within the Spires of Deshar. However, it will always be present on this map; diligent exploration is key. Look for a shrine resembling the image above. Approaching and interacting with it activates the buff. Be warned: this triggers a fight! Metal automatons, initially appearing static, will spring to life and attack. In fact, activating the shrine brings all the map's automatons to life.

If you've reached a checkpoint near the map exit before finding the Sisters, you can fast travel back to it, avoiding a potentially lengthy and hazardous trek through the map.

How to Get +10% Lightning Resistance From Sisters of Garukhan

The +10% Lightning Resistance is granted instantly upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; the buff is applied immediately upon activation.

Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both acts grants a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Why is +10% Lightning Resistance Not Activating

Many players are confused when, despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan, their resistance values remain negative. This is due to a game mechanic: after each Act, players receive a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).

Therefore, completing the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 nets you zero additional Lightning Resistance, as the buff cancels out the Act 1 debuff. In Act 2 Cruel, you'll start with a -40% Lightning Resistance debuff, which is reduced to -30% after activating the Sisters.

To verify that the buffs are active, remove all your equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance value indicates you haven't missed anything.
