Outriders 2 Canceled by People Can Fly
Recent reports indicate developer People Can Fly canceled Outriders 2 among its terminated projects.
The Polish studio—known for Outriders and Gears of War Judgment—confirmed further job cuts in early June after canceling two titles: Project Gemini and Project Bifrost.
Though CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski's statement didn't name the publishers involved, PCF's website listed Gemini as a Square Enix partnership and Bifrost as self-published.
These cancelations triggered an internal restructuring, following April's axing of Project Dagger—an action-adventure game initially co-developed with Take-Two Interactive before its 2022 withdrawal.
Thumb Wars and Insider Gaming now report Project Gemini was actually Outriders 2, allegedly mid-motion-capture when scrapped.
Square Enix declined IGN's request for comment; People Can Fly hasn’t responded yet.
The studio previously downsized after laying off 120 employees in late 2023. Current projects include collaborations with Krafton (Project Echo), Sony (Project Delta), and Microsoft (Gears of War: E-Day).
IGN's Outriders review scored 7/10, praising its "wickedly fun sci-fi shooting and looting" despite a weak narrative. PCF's latest release is Bulletstorm VR, a Meta Quest/PSVR 2 revival of the cult shooter.
