Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), with his new role taking effect on April 1, 2025. This significant leadership change was announced through a press release issued this evening. Alongside this, Sony's CFO Hiroki Totoki has been promoted to the position of president and CEO of the entire Sony Corporation, taking over from Kenichiro Yoshida, who has led the company since April 2018, following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, who currently serves as SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will step into the role of CFO.

Just last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was announced that leadership of SIE would be split between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst took on the role of head of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino was responsible for hardware and technology. With this latest development, Nishino will now oversee the entirety of SIE operations and lead the platform business group, while Hulst will continue to focus specifically on PlayStation Studios.

Nishino, who joined Sony in 2000, previously held the position of SVP, platform experience group. In his statement regarding the promotion, he expressed his honor in taking the helm at SIE. "Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone," Nishino said. He emphasized the company's commitment to expanding the PlayStation community through IP expansion and technological innovation. Nishino also extended his gratitude to Hermen Hulst for his continued leadership and expertise within the Studio Business Group, and to the PlayStation community for their ongoing support. He expressed excitement about future prospects under his leadership.
