Nintendo's Alarmo: Wider Release and Enhanced Features

Nintendo's innovative alarm clock, Alarmo, is slated for a broader retail release in March 2025, as announced via the company's Twitter (X) account. This expanded release will make the device readily available to a wider audience.

Initially launched with limited availability and requiring a Nintendo Online subscription, Alarmo will now be available at major retailers such as Target, Walmart, and GameStop, among others, without the subscription requirement. The suggested retail price is $99.99 USD.

The high demand for Alarmo following its October 9th, 2024 launch led to immediate sell-outs in various locations. In Japan, sales were temporarily suspended on the My Nintendo Store and transitioned to a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Similar high demand was seen in New York City.

Alarmo's appeal stems from its unique features. It incorporates sound effects and visuals from popular Nintendo franchises like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3, offering 42 selectable scenes with more to come via free updates. The alarm experience involves a playful interaction with game characters, escalating in "persuasiveness" if the user remains in bed too long. A motion sensor allows for silencing the alarm without touching the device.

Beyond its core functionality, Alarmo provides additional features such as hourly chimes, sleep sounds synced with the chosen scene, and sleep pattern tracking. For households with multiple occupants or pets, a "Button Mode" is recommended.

The March 2025 release marks a significant step in making this innovative alarm clock accessible to a global audience, removing the previous Nintendo Online membership barrier.
