Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Halves Charging Time
The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller brings a significant improvement in charging time, taking almost half the time to fully charge compared to the original model. As reported by Nintendo Life, Nintendo recently revealed the tech specs of the new $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller, stating it will take approximately three-and-a-half hours to charge when using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable. This is a substantial reduction from the six hours required for the original Pro Controller.
The best part? This faster charging capability doesn't compromise the Pro Controller's impressive 40-hour battery life. The Switch 2 Pro Controller maintains the same 40-hour duration between charges as its predecessor. Additionally, it features a new C button, two additional GL/GR buttons on the underside, and is slightly lighter and smaller than the original version.

If you're not ready to let go of your original controller, rest assured that Nintendo has confirmed the original controller will be compatible with the new console system.
Nintendo officially unveiled the Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Initially, pre-orders were scheduled to open in early April in the U.S., but due to tariff-related uncertainties, Nintendo delayed the pre-order date to April 24. During this delay, Nintendo announced that they would maintain the $449.99 price for the Switch 2 console and its games, though they raised prices on most Switch 2 accessories, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller increasing from $80 to $85.
