Nintendo Switch 2: 120fps, 4K Resolution When Docked

After years of speculation, the long-awaited details of Nintendo's upgraded console, the Nintendo Switch 2, have finally been revealed, and the specifications are more impressive than many expected. The new system supports up to 120fps and can achieve 4K resolution when docked, promising a significant leap in gaming performance.

PlayDuring today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased several key features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to its predecessor, while maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm. With double the pixels, it supports a 1080p display at up to 120fps in handheld mode, and features an LCD screen with HDR capability. When docked, it can deliver up to 4K resolution with HDR support, enhancing the visual experience significantly.

The Joy-Con 2 controllers are an upgrade as well, connecting via magnets and detaching with a release button on the back. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, making them easier to use in horizontal mode, and the left and right sticks have been enlarged for better control. Additionally, this segment confirmed mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers, adding a new dimension to gameplay.

The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 includes a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also features a larger, more robust adjustable stand, enhancing the tabletop gaming experience. A top USB port is available for external camera connectivity or to charge the system while in use.

Finally, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
