Nintendo Alarm Delayed in Japan: Global Release Unaffected
Nintendo Delays Japanese Alarmo Release Despite Global Availability
Nintendo has announced a postponement of the Alarmo alarm clock's general retail release in Japan due to insufficient stock. The launch, initially planned for February 2025, is now delayed indefinitely. This decision follows unexpectedly high demand.
The current production and inventory levels cannot meet the demand, prompting the delay. While there's no confirmation of impacts on other regions (with a general release planned for March 2025 internationally), Nintendo Japan will initially offer pre-orders exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan, starting mid-December 2024, with shipments commencing in early February 2025. Specific pre-order dates will be announced shortly.
The Alarmo, launched globally in October 2024, is an interactive alarm clock featuring music from popular Nintendo franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and RingFit Adventure, with more soundtracks promised via future updates. Its immediate popularity led to a halt in online orders and a lottery system for online purchases. Physical stock in Japan and even the New York Nintendo store quickly sold out.
Further updates on pre-orders and the rescheduled general sale will be shared soon.
