Exciting news for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): Moon Knight, portrayed by Oscar Isaac, is set to make a comeback, though not in the way many might have hoped. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, while a second season of the Disney+ show isn't on the cards, there are indeed plans for the character's future within the MCU.

Since the release of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy. Initially, the focus was on introducing characters through their own series, setting the stage for their integration into larger MCU projects. A prime example is Kamala Khan, who debuted in the Ms. Marvel series before joining the cast of The Marvels. However, the approach has evolved. Winderbaum explained, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future."

Now, the division is adopting a more traditional television model, aiming for annual releases. Winderbaum expressed his personal interest in a Moon Knight Season 2 but confirmed that the character's future lies elsewhere in the MCU. "And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."

While fans await further details on Moon Knight's next appearance, Oscar Isaac has already lent his voice to the character in the third and final season of the Disney+ animated series, Marvel’s What If…? However, there's no confirmed news yet on his return in live-action form.

Looking ahead, the MCU's upcoming TV show lineup is packed with exciting titles. Fans can look forward to Daredevil: Born Again in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December. Meanwhile, Marvel Television recently paused development on three shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Yet, there's a glimmer of hope for fans of street-level heroes, as Winderbaum hinted at the possibility of reuniting Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
