"Metro 2033: Cursed Station Walkthrough Released"
Despite its initial release over a decade ago, *Metro 2033* remains a beloved entry in the series, experiencing a resurgence in popularity with the launch of the VR-exclusive *Metro Awakening*. As the starting point of Artyom's journey, *Metro 2033* unfolds primarily within the subterranean tunnels of Moscow. The mission at the Cursed Station, known as Turgenevskaya in both the books and real life, introduces players to the first anomalies and presents a challenging scenario where Artyom and Khan must assist a group of survivors in repelling relentless nosalis attacks.
This mission has proven to be a stumbling block for many players due to unclear instructions and a potentially confusing station layout. After witnessing an anomaly decimate a nosalis horde in the previous mission, Khan and Artyom proceed to the next station via a railcar, marking the beginning of the "Cursed" mission. Upon exiting the railcar, follow Khan through the tunnel and around the corner to reach the defenders positioned by the barricaded escalators.
Where To Find The Bomb
Upon conversing with the defenders, you'll learn that an explosives crew ventured down the tunnel earlier to collapse it and halt the nosalis onslaught. However, the crew has vanished, and no explosion was heard. Your task is to locate the bomb and detonate it. Throughout the mission, expect continuous nosalis attacks. As Khan advises, retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. You'll likely need to fall back at least once while searching for the bomb.
The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid proceeding straight past the ghostly shadows, as this will harm the player. Once you've retrieved the bomb, you can either head directly into the adjacent tunnel or retreat to the defenders if the enemy pressure becomes too intense.
How To Destroy The Tunnel
With the bomb in hand, proceed deep into the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective) to trigger a cutscene. Artyom will automatically set the bomb and light the fuse, but you must escape the blast zone in time. Run as far away as possible to avoid being killed by the explosion.
A full video guide of the mission is available below:
Alternatively, you can throw a grenade or pipe bomb into the same area to collapse the tunnel. Remember, even after destroying the main tunnel, nosalises will continue to find other ways to enter, so remain vigilant and keep your weapon ready.
How To Destroy The Airlock
After destroying the left-hand tunnel, you must secure the station by collapsing an airlock to prevent further mutant incursions. During the initial conversation with the defenders, Khan mentions this airlock. To reach it, ascend the stairs on the right-hand side of the main platform to the area illuminated by torchlight. You may encounter nosalises here, but you can ignore them.
To destroy the airlock, approach the support columns and interact with them. Artyom will place a pipe bomb on the columns and light the fuse. As with the tunnel, evacuate the area immediately to avoid the ensuing explosion. With both entrances now collapsed, follow Khan to the next stage of the mission, which takes place in a small shrine room. After a brief dialogue with Khan, Artyom will descend through a floor panel, initiating the next mission in the game's story: "Armory."
