Marvel Rivals: PvE Mode Remains Unconfirmed, But NetEase Is Exploring Options

While Marvel Rivals is a relatively new game, player anticipation for expanded content, particularly a PvE mode, is high. Recent speculation surrounding a potential PvE boss fight fueled these expectations. However, NetEase recently clarified that a dedicated PvE mode isn't currently in the works.

During a conversation with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit, the possibility of a PvE mode was directly addressed. Wu stated that while there are no immediate plans, NetEase's development team is actively experimenting with various gameplay modes. The addition of a PvE mode would depend on finding a design that's both engaging and well-suited to the game's existing mechanics.

PlayFurther discussion with Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo revealed that NetEase acknowledges player interest in a PvE experience. However, Wu emphasized that a fully-fledged, hardcore PvE mode would significantly alter the game's current feel. The team is exploring alternative approaches, potentially a more casual or limited-time event-style PvE experience, to gauge player response and find the optimal fit for Marvel Rivals.

Currently, there's no firm commitment to a PvE mode. NetEase is remaining tight-lipped on specifics, focusing instead on ongoing development. Marvel Rivals receives updates approximately every six weeks, introducing new characters. The Human Torch and The Thing are slated for release on February 21st. Separate discussions with Wu and Koo also covered potential Nintendo Switch 2 support and addressed rumors of intentionally misleading dataminers with false hero leaks.
