Mitsuhiro Arita, a renowned artist in the trading card game world, is best known for his iconic illustrations in the original Pokémon Trading Card Game, including the highly sought-after Charizard card. Now, Arita is bringing his artistic talents to Magic: The Gathering with a new Secret Lair drop, and we have an exclusive first look at all four cards featured in this collection.

While Arita is no newcomer to Magic: The Gathering, having previously contributed a borderless art version of Lumra, Bellow of the Woods in last year's Bloomburrow set, this Secret Lair marks a significant expansion of his work in the game. With four new cards released shortly after his previous contribution, fans are treated to a substantial showcase of Arita's unique style.

The cards included in this drop are not only visually stunning but also highly relevant across various Magic formats. The iconic Lightning Bolt is a staple in numerous decks where it's legal, while Murktide Regent has proven its power in both Modern and Legacy formats since its introduction in Modern Horizons 2 in 2021. Light-Paws has garnered a dedicated following as a Commander, and Shorikai has found a comfortable niche in Vintage Cubes, currently ranking as the 20th most popular Commander according to EDHRec.

Wizards of the Coast describes this Secret Lair drop on its store page as follows: "With nearly 30 years of experience creating beloved art for trading card games, Mitsuhiro Arita's work has become some of the most recognizable in the world. His first collaboration with Magic: The Gathering was on a borderless Lumra, Bellow of the Woods released in 2024's Bloomburrow, which quickly became a fan-favorite. In this Secret Lair Drop, the legendary artist returns to showcase his iconic creature design across four remarkable cards."
