In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, like its predecessors, you'll engage in thrilling combat across ancient China alongside various warlords, but eventually, you must choose your allegiance. This guide explains faction selection.

Understanding Factions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, acting independently. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.

Chapter 3 presents the crucial decision: choosing a faction. Before this point, the game provides battles to familiarize you with each faction.

To progress, complete specific missions for each faction: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Completing these unlocks a mission forcing you to choose an alliance. Only factions with completed missions are selectable. You can, however, complete all missions before making your final choice.

Your choice is permanent. The unchosen faction becomes unavailable for the remainder of the game, preventing further sidequests and bond increases with its officers. This might impact gameplay difficulty. For example, allying with Liu Bei, who initially has fewer officers, limits skill point earning opportunities from sidequests.

Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, create a save before choosing a kingdom and reload to explore other alliances.

Faction selection in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is thus straightforward but impactful. Dynasty Warriors: Origins is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
