In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Insomniac Games' founder and outgoing president Ted Price shared insights into a project that never came to fruition: Resistance 4. As Price gears up for retirement after a remarkable 30-year tenure at the helm of the studio, he revealed that the team had passionately pitched this sequel, but it ultimately didn't receive the green light due to timing and market conditions.

Price expressed his enthusiasm for the Resistance series, highlighting its unique alternate history setting where the alien Chimera invade the UK in 1951. He believes that the series laid a strong foundation for further storytelling, particularly around the origins and future of the Chimera. Despite the potential, the proposed Resistance 4 did not align with market opportunities at the time of its pitch.

The Resistance franchise, developed by Insomniac, consists of three first-person shooter titles released for the PlayStation 3. Following the success of these games, Insomniac shifted focus to other high-profile projects such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and new entries in the Ratchet and Clank series.

Ted Price announced his retirement earlier this year, marking the end of an era at Insomniac Games. He has appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads to lead the company forward. Insomniac's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, recently became available on PC, and the studio is currently developing Marvel’s Wolverine as their next big project.
