Universal Pictures unveils the first look at Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated film, The Odyssey, starring Matt Damon as the legendary Odysseus.

Following the phenomenal success of 2023's Oppenheimer, Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic poem, originally penned in the 8th or 7th century BC, promises a visually stunning reimagining. The film's theatrical release is slated for July 17, 2026.

The official synopsis describes The Odyssey as a mythic action epic, filmed globally using groundbreaking IMAX film technology. This marks the first time Homer's seminal work will grace IMAX screens.

The film chronicles Odysseus's arduous ten-year journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. While Universal remains tight-lipped on further details, reports suggest an all-star ensemble cast.

Matt Damon, reuniting with Universal after his acclaimed role in Oppenheimer (a seven-time Academy Award winner), was reportedly the first actor considered for the lead role. Speculation points to a cast that may also include Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson.
