"Guide: Catch a Shooting Star Trophy in Monster Hunter Wilds"
In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, while the thrill of the hunt often centers on the colossal beasts, one achievement stands out for its focus on the tiniest of creatures. If you're aiming to unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement, here's your comprehensive guide to capturing the elusive Sandstar.
How to Unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds
The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement is unique in Monster Hunter Wilds. It's simple yet elusive, easily missed if you're not aware of it from the start. To unlock this achievement, you must capture the Sandstar, a rare endemic life form found in the Windward Plains. Resembling a small desert mouse with a long tail and shimmering fur, the Sandstar can only be found at night in a specific area of the region.
To ensure it's night in the Windward Plains, you can use one of two methods:
- Fast Travel: This method is available early in the game once you unlock multiple fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use your interactive map to access the fast travel menu and shuttle between points until nightfall.
- Rest: After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can rest at a base or pop-up camp. Use your Guild Points to rest and choose the time of day (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).
How to Catch Sandstar in Monster Hunter Wilds
The Sandstar is not only tiny but also incredibly swift, outpacing your Seikret at full sprint. To increase your chances of capturing it, consider gathering Screamer Pods beforehand. These can be obtained from Baunos, small winged monsters with red bodies found in the Windward Plains. Look for them in Area 11 and Area 13, where they scavenge around carcasses. Collecting Screamer Pods isn't mandatory but will significantly aid your pursuit.
Once night falls in the Windward Plains, head to the area between Area 11 and Area 13. Keep a keen eye out for the Sandstar. When you spot it, chase it at full speed and, if you have them, prepare your Screamer Pods. When you're close enough, shoot a Screamer Pod to stun the Sandstar. Immediately switch to your Capture Net (used also for fishing) and throw it at the stunned Sandstar to capture it. Upon successful capture, the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement will unlock, and you'll be rewarded with the Ribbon Dream: Amber nameplate for your Hunter Profile.
