The Pointer Sisters' track "Hot Together" has experienced an unprecedented surge in Spotify streams following its feature in the newly released trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which debuted just yesterday.

In the mere two hours after the trailer's premiere, global streams of the 1986 hit skyrocketed by an astonishing 182,000%. Although Spotify's figures have not been updated since yesterday, "Hot Together" currently stands at just over 250,000 streams, a number expected to climb significantly in the coming days.

Sulinna Ong, Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial, commented on the phenomenon, saying, “Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else. Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

PlaySince Rockstar Games unveiled the latest glimpse of GTA 6, the trailer has amassed an impressive 77.7 million views on YouTube within 24 hours of its release. The sudden popularity of "Hot Together" is remarkable, yet not entirely unexpected. When the first trailer for GTA 6 was revealed in late 2023, featuring Tom Petty’s "Love Is A Long Road," it too saw a significant increase in Spotify streams. This led to a wave of fan theories about the song's connection to the game's storyline, a trend that has yet to emerge for "Hot Together" but may still develop.

As fans eagerly await the (recently delayed) release of GTA 6 on May 26, 2026, Rockstar is providing them with plenty of great music to enjoy in the meantime.
