Civ 7 Devs Consider Bringing Back Past Civilizations and Leaders

Hope remains alive for Gandhi's inclusion as a leader in Civilization 7. This revelation came during an insightful interview with IGN on February 13, 2025, featuring Civ 7's lead designer, Ed Beach. Beach suggested that while Gandhi might not be available at launch, fans could look forward to his return via a future DLC.

In the IGN interview, Beach shed light on the decision-making process behind the selection of civilizations and leaders for Civ 7. "We haven't forgotten about anybody who's been in our game before," Beach stated. "There's a lot of discussion right now about the absence of Great Britain or England in our game."

The omission of Britain and India from the initial roster of Civ 7 stems from the need to make tough choices. "There are simply too many popular choices, and we always aim to introduce a few fresh and exciting options to our players," Beach explained. "Some civilizations are inevitably left out, but we keep the bigger picture in mind, planning for when we might bring back beloved leaders and civilizations. So, there's still hope for Gandhi."

Given the extensive array of DLCs released for Civilization 6, it's reasonable to anticipate that Gandhi will eventually make his way into Civ 7. However, the precise timeline for this much-anticipated return remains uncertain at this point.
