Ford Unfazed by Indy 5 Box Office, Joins Marvel for Fun

Harrison Ford shrugs off the critical and commercial disappointment of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, quipping that "s**t happens." He joined the project because he felt there was "another story to tell" about the iconic adventurer, wanting one last chance to revisit the character, even in diminished form. Despite the film's estimated $100 million loss, Ford remains content with his involvement. "When [Indy] had suffered the consequences of the life that he had to live, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust off his ass and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigor, to see what happened," he explained. "I’m still happy I made that movie."

This nonchalant attitude extends to his recent foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Ford joined Captain America: Brave New World, stepping into the shoes of the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross, a role significantly expanded to include the Red Hulk transformation. However, Ford's decision wasn't driven by this plot point; he hadn't even seen a script when he signed on. He simply saw it as a fun opportunity. "Why not? I saw enough Marvels to see actors that I admired having a good time," he stated. "I didn’t really know that at the end I would turn into the Red Hulk. Well, it’s like life. You only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing."

Brave New World, slated for release on February 14th, marks one of the shorter MCU entries and features Anthony Mackie as Captain America, replacing Chris Evans. The film also promises to delve into deeper Marvel lore, notably fulfilling a long-standing tease from The Incredible Hulk with the introduction of The Leader.
