One of the most famous CoD players thinks the series is in the worst state now
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 struggles while Marvel Rivals thrives. Leading Call of Duty streamers and YouTubers are expressing serious concerns about a significant decline in player engagement. Several have ceased creating content for the Activision title, and even competitive legends are openly criticizing the game's current state.
OpTic Scump, a prominent Call of Duty player, claims the franchise is facing its most challenging period yet. He attributes this largely to the premature launch of ranked mode, coupled with a malfunctioning anti-cheat system that has resulted in rampant cheating.
FaZe Swagg, another popular streamer, dramatically switched from Call of Duty to Marvel Rivals during a live broadcast, citing persistent connectivity problems and an overwhelming number of cheaters. His stream even included a live counter tracking hacker encounters.
These issues are compounded by significant nerfs to the zombies mode, hindering the acquisition of desirable cosmetic items, and an oversaturation of cosmetic microtransactions. Critics argue that Activision has prioritized monetization over meaningful gameplay enhancements. Considering the franchise's substantial budgets in recent years, the current situation, while understandable, is alarming. Player patience is finite, and the game appears to be nearing a critical juncture.
