Exploring the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria: A Guide

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been marked on the town map. However, the location was inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. Here's how to access the Deep Woods and where to find Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

The Deep Woods area becomes accessible after you break the Fire Seal and utilize the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to burn away the vines blocking the entrance in *Fields of Mistria*. To initiate this, you must first offer four items at the Priestess’ Fire Seal altar located on Floor 60 of the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items are obtainable between floors 50 and 59, but securing the Sealing Scroll requires teamwork with Juniper and Balor.

To assist Balor in obtaining the Sealing Scroll, deposit the following items in the bin next to his wagon:

• x10 Silver Ingots
• x10 Rubies
• x10 Sapphires
• x10 Emeralds

Once you've met these requirements, speak with Balor again, and he'll inform you that the item will be available the next day. After obtaining the scroll, you can complete the offering.

Typically, breaking magic seals results in a brief exchange with the mysterious mines Priestess, concluding the task and unlocking a new biome. However, this time the outcome deviates from the norm, and the Priestess urges you to leave the area before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. With your health waning, Caldarus appears when you call for help, transforming into his human form and retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to regain his strength.

The dragon then requests that you find him there, granting you the Dragon’s Breath spell. This powerful offensive spell can incinerate the vines concealing the Deep Woods entrance in *Fields of Mistria*. It can also reveal other previously inaccessible map areas. To use it, equip Dragon’s Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the blocked entrance, permanently unlocking the Deep Woods and other areas.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can locate Caldarus within his temple in the Deep Woods. The temple is situated north of the Eastern Road on your map, and accessing it requires the Dragon’s Breath spell. Caldarus' precise location is marked on your map like other NPCs, and you'll find him in the northeast corner of the area.

To reach him, enter the Deep Woods, head right, and use your axe to clear the stump blocking your path. Once past the stump, proceed north to the temple where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods area is unlocked in *Fields of Mistria*, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to the Deep Woods and visit Caldarus at any time. Teleportation costs only 10 Essence, making it a convenient alternative to traveling on foot or horseback.

And don't worry; you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue, albeit in spirit.
