Dragon Quest 12 Information to Be Revealed 'Little by Little,' Series Creator Yuji Horii Says

Dragon Quest XII remains under development, with creator Yuji Horii assuring fans that information will be revealed gradually. During a recent livestream with his radio show group, KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii confirmed that the Square Enix team is diligently working on the project.
This update follows a May 2024 announcement acknowledging the passing of key figures Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama. The departure of lead producer Yu Miyake to head Square Enix's mobile game division had also previously been announced.
Recent restructuring at Square Enix and a lack of updates fueled fan concerns about the game's status. However, Horii's statement effectively confirms Dragon Quest XII's ongoing development.
Revealed during the franchise's 35th-anniversary celebration, Dragon Quest XII will be the first main series installment since 2017's Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. Square Enix has since reported that the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake surpassed sales projections, reaching 2 million units sold.
