Get Your Pet
First things first. As soon as you load up *Diablo 4* Season 7, head to the nearest town with a Wardrobe and interact with it to get your pet. While pets don't participate in combat, they are invaluable for automatically collecting your gold and materials. This feature significantly reduces the time you'd otherwise spend gathering these resources, allowing you to focus more on combat and looting.
Grab Your Mercenaries
If you have the *Vessel of Hatred* expansion, visit the Den to recruit a Mercenary. Solo players can have up to two Mercenaries, which not only make leveling and combat more manageable but also allow you to build Rapport for additional rewards.
Follow the Seasonal Questline and Level Up
Start on Normal difficulty and follow the new seasonal questline in *Diablo 4* Season 7, marked by green leaf icons on your map. This questline introduces you to new mechanics like Headhunt zones, Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, and Witch powers. Although the questline itself is short with some puzzles to solve, the main activity will be farming Favors in Headhunt zones. This is also the most efficient way to reach level 60. Continuously engage with Headhunt zone bosses, collect and turn in Favors, and simultaneously level up your Witch powers.
Unlock Your Class Power
A useful quality-of-life feature in *Diablo 4* Season 7 is that you no longer need to complete class-specific priority quests if you've already done so on a previous character. However, you must log in with that character on the Eternal realm first. For example, if you plan to play as a Rogue, log in with a previously created Rogue who has completed these quests. Then, log in with your new Season 7 Rogue, and your class power will automatically unlock once you reach the required level.
Headhunt Zones
While navigating Headhunt zones, make sure to complete the Whispers. There are always four active zones, and you should target the smallest, most compact ones for higher enemy density, which allows for faster mob farming and completion of Whispers. Prioritize these two Whisper quests: Fugitive and Shepherd. Shepherd involves escorting animals across the map, while Fugitive requires recovering a head or destroying a husk by defeating Elites and interacting with roots. Once you accumulate 10 Grim Favors, exchange them at the Tree of Whispers for a cache. Additionally, you can turn in Favors to the Raven of the Tree, which appears in every Headhunt zone, eliminating the need to teleport back to the Tree of Whispers.
Witchcraft Powers
At the Tree of Whispers, interact with the Altars of Witchcraft to purchase and upgrade your Witchcraft powers using Restless Rot, obtained by killing new Rot enemies. While these powers are initially affordable, upgrades are costly. Focus on purchasing those that boost your damage output for significant passive benefits. Some Witch powers can only be obtained from Forgotten Altars, which you might encounter in regular dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Pits, and Rootholds once you reach Torment 1 difficulty. Consuming a Draught of Whispers can increase your chances of finding a Forgotten Altar.
Rootholds
Rootholds, a new dungeon type introduced in *Diablo 4* Season 7, are accessible by consuming a Whispering Wood, obtained from Whispers and Silent Chests. Rootholds feature a rogue-lite mode similar to Infernal Hordes, where you can activate negative modifiers to enhance loot quality. As you progress through a Roothold, you can open Exposed Roots for loot, with the modifiers affecting the number and quality of these roots. It's advisable to save your Roothold keys until you reach Torment 1, as they are the best source of Ancestral loot this Season.
Occult Gems
Late in the game, you can craft new Occult Gems by speaking with Gelena at the Tree of Whispers. These gems, which can be slotted into your jewelry, perform better than regular gems. Crafting Occult Gems is expensive, requiring a significant amount of Restless Rot and Heads, which drop from Roothold bosses and Fugitives in Headhunt zones. Using a Draught of Whispers can improve your chances of obtaining Heads from bosses.
Pits, Infernal Hordes, and Nightmare Dungeons
Don't forget to include Pits and Nightmare Dungeons in your routine. Nightmare Dungeons are essential for obtaining Glyphs, while Pits help level them up. Additionally, farming Infernal Hordes provides masterworking materials necessary for enhancing your Uniques.
