Development of Crysis 4 Temporarily Paused Due to Financial Difficulties
Crytek Announces Restructuring, Layoffs, and Crysis Delay
Crytek has confirmed a restructuring plan involving staff reductions. Approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce, will be laid off due to ongoing financial difficulties.
This restructuring also impacts the development of the next Crysis game, which has been temporarily suspended. The decision was made in Q3 2024. The studio is now focusing all its resources on Hunt: Showdown 1896.
Internal efforts to reassign affected staff to other projects, including Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the upcoming Crysis title, proved unsuccessful. Despite cost-cutting measures, layoffs were deemed necessary.

Crytek's future plans prioritize expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896 content, while the new Crysis game is indefinitely delayed. Affected employees will receive severance packages and career support.
The company remains positive about its long-term prospects, emphasizing continued development of Hunt: Showdown 1896 and its CRYENGINE technology.
