'Death Note: Killer Within' Gameplay Revealed, PS5 Rating Achieved
A new Death Note game, tentatively titled Death Note: Killer Within, has been rated for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 by the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, hinting at an imminent release.
Bandai Namco – The Likely Publisher
Industry speculation points to Bandai Namco as the publisher, given their history of successful video game adaptations of popular anime franchises. While official details remain scarce, the rating suggests a formal announcement is forthcoming. This follows June's trademark registrations for the game title by Shueisha (Death Note's publisher) in various regions. While initially listed as "Death Note: Shadow Mission" by the ratings board, the English title Death Note: Killer Within has been confirmed. However, the listing may have since been removed from the website.
A Look Back at Past Death Note Games
Although gameplay specifics remain undisclosed, anticipation is high. Given the series' psychological themes, fans expect a suspenseful experience mirroring the manga and anime. Whether the game will focus on the iconic Light Yagami and L rivalry or introduce new characters and storylines is yet to be revealed.
Previous Death Note games, such as Death Note: Kira Game (2007, Nintendo DS), Death Note: Successor to L, and L the ProLogue to Death Note: Spiraling Trap, were primarily point-and-click deduction games, largely limited to Japanese audiences. Death Note: Killer Within could represent the franchise's first major global game launch.
