Dating in Fields of Mistria: What's Possible?

NPC Studio's *Fields of Mistria* has garnered significant acclaim for its well-crafted marriage candidates and dialogue, as well as its thoughtful romance questlines. However, the burning question on many players' minds is whether you can actually date the current romance options in the game.

Can You Date Romance Options in Fields of Mistria?

Currently, the straightforward answer is no—you can't technically date the romance options in *Fields of Mistria*. Yet, having invested over 100 hours trying to win March's affection, I can confidently say that the game's romance system is still incredibly rewarding and well worth the $13.99 price tag on Steam.

With the first major update in November 2024, *Fields of Mistria* expanded its heart cap from four to six and introduced a new heart event for each romanceable NPC to celebrate relationship milestones. These events unlock at two, four, and six hearts, featuring engaging cutscenes. NPC Studio has plans to add eight- and ten-heart events in future updates, although no specific dates or details have been shared beyond the March 2025 update, which won't include a higher heart level cap or new heart events.

While the inability to develop romance further might disappoint new players, *Fields of Mistria's* current romance system is exceptional. The game's dialogue is rich and realistic, becoming delightfully flirty when it comes to romance options. Even the early cutscenes, which could be interpreted as platonic, leave room for romantic nuances, particularly in their settings. As your relationships progress, the romantic pacing in *Fields of Mistria* feels deeply satisfying, even without traditional dating.

New players shouldn't dismiss *Fields of Mistria* just because you can't go on official dates yet. The last major update introduced the Shooting Star Festival, a summer event where you can initiate a date-like experience with eligible NPCs, provided you have four hearts with them. At the moment, you can also spend an evening stargazing with Caldarus, though this doesn't count as a date at the Summit location like it does with other romance options. This might change with the upcoming March 2025 update, which will unlock Caldarus's romance questline.

For now, while you can't officially date NPCs in *Fields of Mistria*, there's plenty to keep players engaged until this feature is fully implemented.
