Freedom Wars Remastered immerses players in a gripping dystopian future, where they play as Sinners tasked with defending humanity against monstrous Abductors. Enhancing combat prowess is key, and players can do so by upgrading their weapons and accessories. These upgrades not only boost base stats but also allow the addition of modules for specialized enhancements.

Early game access to weapon upgrades means players aren't solely dependent on mission rewards or enemy drops. This guide provides detailed insights into upgrading weapons and accessories in Freedom Wars Remastered.

How To Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered

To start upgrading weapons in Freedom Wars Remastered, players need to reach Level 002 Code Clearance through the main storyline. Upon reaching this level, CODE 2 Sinners unlock the Facility Management Function via the Personal Responsibility Portal. This leads to the Weapon Development Facility, where players can manage and upgrade all their weapons. Upgrades require specific resources and Entitlement Points, though costs can be lowered by enlisting the help of a Citizen. Various Citizens offer different reduction rates based on their Facility Manager Aptitude. While it might seem complex at first, the system becomes intuitive with practice.

Before finalizing an upgrade, players can view a screen showing the anticipated changes to their weapon’s stats. The Weapon Development Facility also enables the addition of Elements and experimentation with Modules and Module Slots. To elevate a weapon to a higher Grade, players must first purchase the necessary permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.

Should You Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered?

Early in the main story, missions don’t typically yield high-Grade weapons. Although players can buy weapons and combat items from Zakka in The Warren, these are generally limited to Grade Level 1. Thus, upgrading becomes almost indispensable. A CODE 3 Exam requires players to claim higher Grade Development Facility Permits, enabling upgrades to preferred weapons. Players can then donate Low-Grade weapons found during missions to reduce their sentence and earn more Entitlement Points.

The first upgrade at the Weapon Development Facility also unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with more achievements linked to the upgrading system, appealing to trophy hunters. The significant damage difference between weapons of different Grades incentivizes players to invest time in enhancing their gear.

Finally, the Ability Development Facility, which is part of Facility Management, becomes available later in the game, offering further enhancement options.
