Cosmo Jarvis Confirmed for Shogun Season 2, Set a Decade Later
The critically acclaimed series *Shōgun*, which swept 18 Emmy Awards and 4 Golden Globes, is set to captivate audiences once more with its highly anticipated second season. According to an official press release from FX, Cosmo Jarvis, who portrayed the compelling pilot John Blackthorn, has confirmed his return to the role and will also step into the role of co-executive producer for Season 2.
In a significant development, Hiroyuki Sanada, who plays the lead and signed on for Season 2 last May following the show's renewal from its original limited series status, has been elevated to the position of executive producer. This comes after his involvement in producing the first season. The production for the new season is scheduled to commence in January 2026, returning to Vancouver, the same location where the original series was filmed.
FX has revealed that the upcoming season of *Shōgun* will introduce "a wholly original new chapter to the first season," which was based on James Clavell's novel. Elaborating on the connection between the two seasons, the network stated:
"In the first season, Lord Yoshii Toranaga (Sanada) fought for his survival as his enemies in the Council of Regents united against him. When a mysterious European ship was found marooned in a nearby village, its English pilot John Blackthorne (Jarvis) shared vital strategic secrets with Toranaga that tipped the scales of power in his favor to win a century-defining civil war.
"Part two of *Shōgun* is set 10 years after the events of the first season and continues the historically-inspired saga of these two men from different worlds whose fates are inextricably entwined."
Fans eagerly awaiting the return of this stellar series can look forward to potentially seeing new episodes by the end of 2026, though for now, all we can do is wait and hope.
